Teh Cider!

Full of cider and am ready to pass out so I think it's time for an update.

My 512 memory still hasn't come so I'm starting to get pissed about that since I'm eager to open lappy up and give her a boob job. Also getting frustrated with Ubuntu Live CDs and fecking HDD partitioning, I so badly want to get Ubuntu reinstalled so that I don't have to deal with windows all the time (trust me, once you've tried Linux you will hate window even more), just for those special tasks that require it like avi to DVD converter.

Anyhoo enough about what didn't happen, what did happen recently before the moment I decided to indulge in 2 litre of cider? Weekend I was mostly out with mate's either gaming of hiking, the usual. I did get a good look at FF:XII though, and must admit it looked bloody impressive, from a true gamers point of view. The look and feel of the game is simply amazing, you can see that it's pushing the PS2 to it's limit with stunning CGI cut scenes and crowded cities plus from what I can tell from 'Daffyd Lord of all that is FF' (or just Daffyd(David if your an idiot)) the story is deep and interesting and the scale of challenge, length and variation is enough to keep you playing it for a long time, possible till the PS3 gets a price drop. But there is one thing in the game that is very off putting to me, the actual battle system is totally different to what you would expect. It is a variation on the one used in FFVII:Dirge of Cerberus which well seeing as it was more of a 3rd person shooter with a RPG twist. Its just like the "stand in a line and wait for your turn" but instead you walk around in circles while waiting for your turn.I can see how this could improve game play with the help of daffyd insisting that it does, but i cant but help to feel that it would be more easier to control and more efficient to of stuck with the old way.
This is just a brief summary of the basics of the system, as with all FFs theres slightly more to it but still my point stands and to this end the system has totally put me off the game. Even though I wasn't going to buy it, i now don't want to nic it off of daffyd once he's done with it. Oh and the limit breaker, although they and very glossy and what should be described as "cool", look completly stupid.
Oh this reminds me, I need to nic IX off of him.

- Passed Out

- Woke up

Ehm, right where was I? Ah, yes, just finished my preview of FF:XII.

Now then, although very little happened for me there was a big conference over the week starting on the 5th. The GDC (Game Developer Conference) was held at San Francisco's Moscone Center and had a lot to show the world with devs showing their stuff including Miyamoto-San him self ^_^. The Devs showed off all their games they had in development, talked about previous release, answered the questions every one has and ranted. The creator of Spore had the best rant and the must shun upon since he slagged Nintendo off like there was no tomorrow (he's lucky the ninty fans didn't find him otherwise there wouldn't of been) though the next day he did apologize for the rant and said he was just going for some laughs.

I could list more things that happened but I haven't got the patience plus I haven't finished reading up fully about it myself so go read up yourself.

Now as I need to get ready to bugger off and cause I cant remember anything else that's interesting i think I'll end this blog here.

So as always, happy hunting on the high sea's mates
